7" (43 cm.) Poured wax shoulder head leaned to the right,blue glass enamel inset eyes,lightly
tinted brows,slightly open mouth with row of tiny teeth,blonde mohair wig,muslin-wrapped
straw body with wax lower limbs. Condition: re-glue to right foot and shoulder plate,otherwise
original complexion and sculpting well preserved. Comments: early 19th century,probably
French. Value Points: the doll wears outstanding early folklore costume of various transfer-
printed cottons,including heavily quilted skirt,fichu,tablier with pockets,blouse,and
undergarments in a remarkable state of preservation.
