The American Composition Doll, 1910-1945 Featuring the Private Collection of Chris Klemm of Illinois. Sunday, September 24th
Sunday, September 24th at the Theriault’s Gallery, Annapolis, Maryland | Preview 9 AM | Auction 11:00 AM ET.
The devoted collector Chris Klemm is known for her fine collection of all-original French bébés and poupées. So it may seen curious that gracing one room of her home has been an exceptional collection of American composition dolls from the first half of the 1900s. The collection ranges from child dolls to celebrity dolls, from family series dolls to unique models, from dolls inspired by their bisque forerunners to new style faces and bodies of the 1930s. Special favorites of the collector include the Horsman child on the cover of Don Jensen’s book, and various Skippy models. The term “pristine” seems the most apt description of this remarkable collection which features more than 200 different models.
