Description
7" (18 cm.) All carved wood figure with socket head, depicting a man with sculpted hair, very pronounced hook nose, and having carved and painted large green goggles, with one-piece body, having sculpted and painted yellow suit and holding a carved falcon in his arms. A wooden lever at the back torso allows the head to move side-to-side. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany, late 1800s. Value Points: fine detail of carving with amusing mystery features of falcon and goggles, charming simple mechanism, original finish. Ex-collection of Alice Schott of Santa Barbara Museum of Art.
