13" (33 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead of gentleman with bald pate and sculpted tufts of hair at forehead and over each ear, enamel eyes, well-defined chin, closed mouth with shy smile and painted row of teeth, tow-wrapped armature body, carved wooden arms and legs, painted blue/green stockings and black shoes, wearing original costume comprising silk-lined velvet jacket with gold braid and silver buttons, silk vest and cummerbund, textured short pants, brown cap. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, late 1700s, exceptional and expressive modeling of kindly-faced older man.
