14" (36 cm.) Bisque socket head, small brown glass inset eyes in squint-cut eye sockets, brown fringed upper lashes, tinted brows, accented nostrils of tiny nose, closed mouth with slightly pouty-shaped lips, auburn-brown mohair wig, five piece French composition jointed body with sturdy toddler legs. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: SFBJ 239 Paris Poulbot (Poulbot in incised script). Comments: SFBJ, circa 1915, the model was designed by the illustrious French illustrator, Francisque Poulbot, based upon his poster and book drawings depicting WWI post-war Parisian orphans, and made by SFBJ for two years only; the doll was named Nenette by Poulbot. Value Points: the fine example of the rare doll with especially fine and artistic painting, original body, antique urchin costume.
