17" (43 cm.) Porcelain shoulder head with nicely blushed plump cheeks, blue glass sleep eyes that operate by push/pulling on a wire mechanism in the torso (with mechanism visible inside head), dark eyeliner, painted lashes, lightly-feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with center accent line, brunette mohair wig, kid poupee body with gusset-jointing at hips and knees, porcelain lower arms and hands, beautiful antique costume. Condition: original very faint firing line at the forehead, otherwise excellent, eye mechanism functions well. Marks: Brevete SGDG. Comments: Claude Blampoix deposed this system for sleeping eyes in 1855. Value Points: important historical doll with deposed system of sleeping eyes, beautiful expression and porcelain.
