Description
27" (69 cm.) w. x 18"h. x 20"d. Of sturdy chestnut with original dark finish, the large banquet room features wooden floor, wainscoting and ceiling molding, a set-back alcove at the center back with large windows, two windows at the left side and a faux double-door at the right. The windows have original die-cut tinplate stencils to appear as leaded windows. The wall above the wainscoting have original ink-blue paper cover. The room is furnished with dark wood tavern table and chairs, grandfather clock, and more. Carved wooden figures stand on pedestal tables, pewter and earthenware furnish the table and shelves, mounted deer heads hang on the walls, carved wooden dogs stand in attendance, and a carved wooden man in original costume stands in the center. Excellent condition. Germany, circa 1895, a nearly identical room appeared in the 1894 catalog of the firm, May & Widmayer, described as "deutscher Renaissance" style.
