13" (33 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead turned to the right, defined throat hollow and bosom, brown sculpted hair with short tendrils of curls framing the face and nape, and forming into a large loosely-braided chignon at the back, enamel eyes, closed mouth with two painted teeth, tow-wrapped armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, painted red stockings, blue painted clogs, wearing original costume comprising burgundy silk and velvet costume with richly hand-embroidered details, muslin undergarment, silver and coral necklace, mushroom-shaped basket with flowers. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, late 1700s, rare coiffure with exquisite detail of expression and complexion.
