26" (66 cm.) Bisque socket head with elongated facial modeling and very full cheeks, blue glass paperweight inset eyes, thick dark eyeliner, painted lashes, mauve-blushed eye shadow, brushstroked and feathered brows, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, outlined lips of closed mouth, heart-shaped upper lip, dimpled chin and philtrum, separately-applied pierced ears, brunette hand-tied human hair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed plump body with straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent, some body rubs at joints. Marks: EJA 10 (head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, circa 1882, early signature model, considered by Jumeau as his first important landmark doll. Value Points: the rare doll with distinctive features and artistic painting of features has original body and body finish, beautiful antique white pique dress with intricate soutache and cutwork detail, blue silk bonnet, early blue kidskin slippers with rosettes and bows, and blue knit purse.
