Description
24" (61 cm.) w. x 18"h. x 7". Arranged in a wooden-cased shadow-box is the exterior of a nicely-windowed building with yellow-walled apartment on the top level and butcher shop below. Standing at the front of the butcher shop are three generously-girthed butchers with painted costumes, two with cleavers in hand, while nearby are butcher blocks and wrapping counters. Behind the men are hanging racks of various cuts of meat; the meat is all of carved wood with hand-painted details. Excellent condition, English, mid-19th century, a very similar example was featured in the Davos Spielzeugmuseum, and is shown in that catalog, #224.
