15" (38 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, blue glass inset eyes with spiral threading, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, arched feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with lips posed in gentle enigmatic smile, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French all-wooden body with dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles, and with ball-jointed waist. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: D (head and shoulder). Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, circa 1872, both the distinctive "smiling" facial model, and the uniquely-sculpted wooden body were deposed by him, and are said to depict the beloved Empress Eugenie. Value Points: rare model with very beautiful face, fine original wooden articulated body, original wig, and wearing original couturier gown with extended train, velvet bonnet, undergarments, leather slippers.
