18" (46 cm.) Pressed bisque socket head with very full cheeks, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, mauve blushed eye shadow, brush-stroked and feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with outlined lips, separately modeled pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body with straight wrists, wearing pretty antique dress, silk textured cape, undergarments, socks, signed Jumeau shoes, and fancy cap. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Depose 8 (incised, on head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, an early bebe model with luxury details such as separately-modeled ears not found on later bebes of this size, circa 1885. Value Points: rare model with especially expressive features, very fine bisque and painting such as shaded eye lids, original body and body finish.
