10" (25 cm.) l. including tail. Sculpted lean-bodied dog with defined musculature is posed with his head turned sharply to the side, with shaded brown/cream coloring, enamel eyes, painted facial features, thick brown leather studded collar. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, late 1700s, attributed to the workshops of the Vassallo brothers who were noted for their wooden animal sculptures; it is said that the dogs of King Ferdinand IV were used as models for their works.
