17" (43 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate with extra Dehors articulation that allows the head to tilt coquettishly sideways and forward, cobalt blue glass enamel inset eyes, painted lashes, feathered brows, rose-blushed eye shadow, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with outlined lips, ears pierced into head, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, firmly-stuffed plump kid poupee body with gusset-jointing at hips and knees, kid-over-wood upper arms to below the jointed elbows, bisque lower arms with sculpted curled fingers. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: French, circa 1867, attributed to Auguste Dehors who deposed his head articulation system in 1866. The Dehors establishment included not only himself but also his wife, Alexandrine Dehors, who was the creator of trousseau and luxury costumes. Value Points: very fine poupee with Dehors neck articulation, rare body in near mint condition, and wearing original luxury costume of brown velvet with mauve silk trim and buttons, black lace edging, matching mauve velvet bonnet, undergarments, black leather shoes signed C.M. and wonderful necessaire box with exquisite detailing.
