Description
29" (74 cm.) x 15" x 14". Arranged upon a wooden platform with angled mirrored back to enhance the perception of activity is a scene from a Victorian nursery, featuring seven bisque-head dolls and their dog. Various activities include a little boy working his arithmetic on a slate board, other children eating biscuits while chatting, and their dog playing with a striped ball. When the porcelain knob is wound, music plays and the activities ensue. Condition: generally excellent, two mirrors have cracks toward the bottom edge. Comments: Zinner and Sohne, circa 1890. Value Points: rare grand model by the noted German firm with luxury features including ormolu butterfly decorations on the platform, distinctive fretwork designs on side walls, and large number of dolls.
