Description
10 1/2" (27 cm.) All-bisque classic standing Kewpie with loop-jointed arms, painted side-glancing eyes, thin line smile, starfish-shaped hands, sculpted topknot forelock curl, and blue wings. Condition: generally excellent, tiny flake on tip of one leaf; the marble base is later added for posing purposes. Comments: Germany, from original illustration of Rose O'Neill, circa 1915. Kewpie is attached to white marble base and is accented with a coronet garland of sculpted bisque flowers and leaves; the coronet is originally modeled and fire-finished to the standard Kewpie model. Value Points: very rare and unique Kewpie model with charming detail.
