Of crisp chocolate-brown silk, the gown features a fitted bodice with hook and loop closures at the back, unusual shaping of neckline, V-shaped front bodice panel with vertical bands of black velvet that are edged by a border of delicate Alencon lace that extends over the shoulders to form streamers at the back, with pagoda-shaped sleeves with black velvet ribbon edging, and box pleated skirt with double boxed pleats at the rear that are trimmed at the hem with further black velvet ribbon and black Alencon lace. To fit 15" doll. 4" shoulder width. 7 1/2" waist. 11" overall length. Circa 1860.
