13" (33 cm.) Bisque socket head with angular slender features of solemn-faced older boy, sculpted short brown hair, detailed forelock curls, painted grey/blue eyes in deeply set sockets, black upper eyeliner, short feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with shaded lips, composition and wooden ball-jointed body, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 153 S&H 4 1/2. Comments: Simon and Halbig, circa 1910, from its very limited art character series of dolls, the model is known as "The Little Duke" and was made for one year only. Value Points: the rare model has exemplary bisque, complexion and painting with decorative glaze on well-modeled hair, compelling expression, original body and body finish.
