Socket head with highly-characterized face depicting the comic strip character, painted features, on wooden body with painted costume, wood segmented limbs for posing, with painted sailor costume, brown shoes, attached blue wooden cap and wooden pipe. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: J. Chein & Co Made in US Harrison N,J, (left foot) King Features Syn Inc 1932 (right foot). Comments: Popeye from the syndicated comic strip, circa 1932. Value Points: wonderfully-preserved condition with tattoos on his muscular arms, carrying leather boxing gloves, and presented in original illustrated box.
