Description
10" (25 cm.) doll. 13" x 10" box. The brass-handled firm-sided box is richly covered with patterned floral paper and with center engraving depicting a little girl seated on a swing. The doll has bisque socket head, blue glass sleep eyes, mohair lashes, painted features, open mouth, four porcelain teeth, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, commercial body with jointing to allow standing or sitting, bisque arms to above the elbows, antique cream flannel costume and red silk bonnet. The box hinges open at both front and back, revealing a plethora of additional costumes with hats, toiletries, jewelry, toys, dolls and accessories. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: SH 1078 dep Germany. Comments: for the French market, circa 1895. Value Points: rare presentation doll is perfectly preserved.
