17" (43 cm.) Polychromed earthenware shoulderhead with heart-shaped face and elongated throat, brown sculpted hair waved loosely from face into ribbon-entwined chignon at her crown and little curls at her nape, enamel eyes, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, wearing silk court costume with elaborate detail of metallic trim, lace, fringe and beading, and holding a small box with gold painted dog. Excellent condition, early retouch of painted finish on forehead and hair. Neapolitan, mid-1700s.
