20" (51 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate with modeled bosom, blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, brushstroked brows, shaded nostrils, accented eye corners, closed mouth, shaded lips, well-defined ears, brunette hand-tied human hair wig with beaded snood, cork pate. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: B. Bru No. 3. Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, circa 1888, from a series of mannequin and milliner's model heads created under commission during this time. Value Points: very rare work by the Bru firm, with exceptionally fine quality of bisque and painting, in grand size and with maker's signature.
