Of intricately-woven gilt metal in the shape of a bird's nest that is resting in a bower of twigs that are decorated with green-enamel metal leaves, necessaire features a fitted opaline glass egg with brass frame which hinges open to reveal well-fitted interior containing gold thimble and needle case (lacking scissors and awl). Excellent condition of the rare luxury accessory. French, circa 1870.
