Description
12" (30 cm.) Bisque socket head with slender elongated facial shape, painted blue eyes, black upper eyeliner, single-stroke brows, accented nostrils of aquiline nose, closed mouth with very full lips in downcast pensive expression, brunette mohair bobbed wig, composition and wooden ball-jointed body, antique boy's costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: K*R 107 30. Comments: Kammer and Reinhardt, circa 1910, "Karl" from their art character series, based upon an original 1898 sculpture by the famed Berlin artist, Lewin Funcke which he allowed the K*R firm to use for this doll model. Value Points: the pensive faced portrait of an older boy is remarkable for the detail of sculpting even in this charming smaller size, and has choicest bisque and painting, original body and body finish.
