Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead with regal expression, brown sculpted hair in long flowing curls, brown enamel heavily-lidded eyes, solemn expression, full throat and chin, sculpted ears, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, bare feet with carved sandal base, wearing original ivory satin gown with stitched paper lining, coral silk faille skirt, gold metallic braid trim, gilt metal-braid cap with floor-length cascading metallic thread veil, gold and pearl necklace, mother-of-pearl reticule on silver link chain. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, mid-1700s, outstanding portraiture is enhanced by meticulously-constructed original regal costume.
