10" (25 cm.) Posed atop a wooden box with lithographed scene, ormolu feet, porcelain winding knob is a bisque head mignonette with dramatically large cobalt blue glass eyes, painted lashes and brows, closed mouth with center accent line, wooden limbs, blonde mohair wig, who is wearing original silk aqua Marquis costume and hat, and holding a wooden violin in his arms. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: French, circa 1885, when wound, music plays and the young Marquis vigorously plays the violin. Value Points: rare luxury toy in well-preserved state, especially captivating face.
