21" (53 cm.) Bisque socket head with elongated facial modeling, deep blue glass paperweight inset eyes, thick dark eyeliner, painted lashes, mauve-blushed eyeshadow, brushstroked and feathered brows, shaded nostrils, accented eye corners, closed mouth with shaded and outlined lips, upturned lip corners, impressed dimples at philtrum and chin, separately-applied pierced ears, blonde mohair wig with ringlet curls over cork pate, French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 10 (head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, his signature portrait doll sculpted by famed Parisian artist Carriere-Belleuse, circa 1884. Value Points: finest example with lustrous complexion, brilliant eyes, finest painting, original body, antique embroidered costume, undergarments, stockings, leather shoes impressed with full figure of doll, aqua pressed flannel and silk bonnet, earrings, gilt necklace and tiny ring.
