Description
13" (33 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta head turned to the side and gazing upward, sculpted brown curly hair, enamel eyes, parted lips with tiny painted teeth and tongue tip, tow-wrapped armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs to above the knees, bare feet, wire-framed gown, attached wooden wings (12" span) having carved detail of feathering, original cream/ochre finish. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, attributed to Nicola Ingaldo, mid/late 1700s, his works were recorded in the inventory of Ferdinand II of the Two Sicilies.
