Description
27" (69 cm.) Bisque socket head, very deep blue glass paperweight inset eyes, thick dark eyeliner, painted lashes, brushstroked and feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth, shaded lips with decorative glaze, pierced ears, brunette human hair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body, lovely antique costume and shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: B. 12 F. (and artist checkmarks). Comments: Emile Jumeau, circa 1892, the Bebe Francais model was introduced by Jumeau after he won the trademark rights to the name from Danel & Cie; the facial model closely resembles his art character bebe model 225 which was likely derived from the Bebe Francais. Value Points: rarity of the bebe is rivaled by her lovely expression, bisque and painting.
