12" (30 cm.) Bisque socket head with flattened solid dome, blue glass inset eyes with spiral threading, dark eyeliner, rose blushed eye shadow, brushstroked brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with pale outlined lips, pierced ears, blonde fleecy mohair wig, Sonneberg composition and wooden fully-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 5. Comments: Sonneberg, mystery maker, circa 1885, the doll closely resembles the early Bru bebe whose market it hoped to capture. Value Points: very fine quality of bisque and painting, wide-eyed expressive features, original silk rose and green jester costume with cap and pom-pom slippers.
