16" (41 cm.) Honey-toned wax shoulderhead with pale blue painted eyes, painted brows, tiny closed mouth, pierced ears, blonde mohair curls peeking from the sides of sculpted bonnet with upturned sides and large feather, original muslin body with wax over paper mache lower arms and legs, painted yellow ankle boots with blue buttons. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany, their fashion lady doll known as "Staatdamen" in reference to high society status, circa 1875, created simultaneously to the golden era of the French bisque poupee. Value Points: rare to find doll with sculpted bonnet, antique riding ensemble.
