22" (56 cm.) Bisque socket head with plump cheeks, bright blue glass eyes with spiral threading, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, brushstroked and feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, impressed dimples at chin and philtrum, slightly-parted lips, four porcelain teeth, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig, Sonneberg composition and wooden fully-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: S 12 H 719 Dep. Comments: Simon and Halbig, circa 1888, the doll was made in many variations including size, open or closed mouth, white or black complexion, and even as the cheerful-face model to accompany the body and works of the Edison Phonograph doll. Value Points: hard-to-find model, especially in this larger size, has exemplary bisque, beautiful eyes, original body and body finish, and wonderful antique dress, undergarments, leather shoes, and ruffled bonnet with silk frou-frou ribbons.
