10" (25 cm.) Of padded fabric over wire armature with well-defined details of face and fingers, the lady has painted facial features on heart-shaped face, closed mouth, tightly-curled mohair wig in elaborate arrangement, wearing original costume of ivory and gilt silk brocade with elaborately puffed sleeves accented with applied gold beads and seed pearls, pleated stand-up collar, and pearl-edged coronet and wigs from which extends a sheer organza veil, with pearl necklaces and bracelets, "jewel" brooch which matches the trim on her purse, petticoats, silk slippers with pearl accents. Condition: near mint, organza on veil worn. Marks: Dorothy Wendell Heizer (original sewn-in label). Comments: American artist, Dorothy Heizer, from a series of historic queens first introduced in 1934, this example created in 1942, inspired by a portrait of Queen Elizabeth I attributed to Lucas de Heere. Value Points: exceptional detail of costuming and bead work, the facial features aptly depicting known portraits of the Queen.
