13" (33 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead depicting an elderly woman with head turned in profile, well-defined details of age lines, sternly-set lips, hollow shoulderblades and defined goiter, enamel eyes, painted and modeled grey cap capturing her hair behind her sculpted ears, tow-wrapped posable armature body with carved wooden lower arms and legs, painted blue stockings, black shoes with red buckles, wearing original costume with dainty embroidery and silver edged apron, green velvet vest, gold chain necklace. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, mid-1700s, outstanding detail of sculpted features, very fine costume.
