7" (18 cm.) kneeling. Polychromed earthenware shoulderhead of shepherd, sculpted short windblown hair, enamel eyes, mouth sculpted as though open with little teeth and tongue tip, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden arms and lower legs, wearing original costume comprising laced homespun shirt under fleeced vest, brown breeches, leggings, kidskin sandals. Along with two carved wooden lambs with fine detail, and polychromed earthenware hen with painted and sculpted feathers resting in basket. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, mid-1700s.
