22" (56 cm.) Polychromed earthenware shoulderhead of lady with glowing brown complexion, sculpted black hair with loose curls framing her face and drawn into a loosely coiled bun at her crown with cascading curls onto her nape and sides of neck, very ample modeled bosom, brown enamel eyes, sculpted parted lips with painted teeth and tongue tip, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, bare feet, wearing silk folklore costume with metallic braid accents, coral bead and gilt necklace. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, circa mid/late 1700s, attributed to the school of Francesco Celebrano who served as director of modelers for the Naples Royal Factory for ten years with particular attention to presepio figures.
