Description
Including rose silk hat with ruched sides, Alencon lace coiffe with aqua silk ribbons, woven straw bonnet with silk lining and feather, and magenta silk hat with elaborately draped fabrics and long streamers edged with Alencon lace. The four bonnets are preserved in an early card stock hat box with marbled paper lid, and along with an ink script note dated Feb., 24, 1870, from Brighton, England, listing the hats, noting "with respectful thanks" and "most heartily wish you health to wear them out". 3"l. hat box. 1 1/4" width hats.
