20" (51 cm.) Standing upon a maroon velvet-covered base is a bisque head boy with large brown glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, brushstroked brows, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with shaded outlined lips, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, slender carton torso and legs, wire upper arms, bisque forearms, wearing original velvet troubadour costume with red silk ruffles and sash, lace trim, red woven hair cap with black beads, holding a wooden mandolin. When wound, he turns his head side to side, while strumming the mandolin, and while music plays. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Depose Tete Jumeau Bte SGDG 1. Comments: Leopold Lambert, circa 1890. Value Points: the wide-eyed charming mandolinist has original costume, especially fine facial painting.
