19" (48 cm.) Gofun-finished complexion on swivel head, enamel eyes, heavy eyelids, closed mouth, black fiber wig in very elaborately arranged curls and rolls which are wrapped with various hair ornaments and silk ribbons, armature body with sculpted hands, wearing multi-layered padded robes with painted and embroidered flowers, obi, red silk skirt, posed on original silk covered stand and with original box with Japanese lettering indicating "Maiko", which was an apprentice geisha. Excellent condition. Japanese, Showa era.
