Description
18" (46 cm.) Each is of hand carved wood with detailed sculpting of facial features, ears and hair, lightly tinted features to enhance the sculpting, unusual dowel-jointed neck allowing the heads to move up and down but not side to side, dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, carved fingers. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Early 20th century, unknown carver. Value Points: Superb larger size of the highly characterized couple, the woman having elaborate coiffure, each wearing original leather coat with fur trim, high boots, bone trim. The dolls were featured on the cover of Theriault's 2002 "Quiet Footsteps" catalog.
