12" (30 cm.) All-cloth doll with pressed and oil-painted black complexion, painted brown eyes, red upper eyeliner, black painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth, black fleecy tightly-curled wig, sateen torso cover, stitch-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, separately-stitched thumbs, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Martha Chase, circa 1890. Value Points: very rare black-complexioned character child, with unusual fleeced hair and fine original finish, with original blue ribbon award.
