26" (66 cm.) Stockinette cloth head with pressed and oil-painted dark brown complexion, painted dark brown eyes with two white eye dots in each eye, black upper eyeliner, black painted brows, broad nose, full lips of closed mouth, very plump cheeks and chin, stitch-shaped ears, black fleecy hair, brown cotton sateen torso, stitch-jointed brown oil-painted hands and bare feet. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Martha Chase, circa 1895, the exceptional size suggests its possible origin as an exhibition model. Value Points: very rare doll especially in this size is all-original condition, with original cotton plaid dress, apron, shoes and socks, along with original blue checkered cotton undershirt and long pants; and having distinctive artistic facial modeling and painting is preserved in near mint condition.
