33" (84 cm.) Bisque socket head with elongated face and very full cheeks, large brown glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, rose-blushed eye shadow, brushstroked and feathered brows, accented eye corners and nostrils, closed mouth with defined space between the outlined lips, impressed chin dimple and philtrum, separately-applied pierced ears, elongated auburn mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body with straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent, wig pulls at front and left crown rim, some body retouch. Marks: 16 (head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, their Bebe Triste sculpted under commission by the noted Parisian artist Carrier-Belleuse, circa 1885. Value Points: very rare largest size of the beloved model with very fine bisque and painting, luxury wig, wearing brown woolen dress with embroidered garland and birds, undergarments, lace cap, original signed Bebe Jumeau 16.
