20" (51 cm.) Composition socket head with distinctive facial modeling, painted features, brown sleep eyes with mohair lashes, painted lower lashes, fringed brows, open mouth, brunette human hair wig, jointing at shoulders and hips. Condition: generally excellent, eyes slightly faded. Marks: Effanbee Anne Shirley (doll). Comments: Effanbee, circa 1938, from original design by artist Dewees Cochran, for the "American Children" series. Value Points: wearing original costume comprising "flower people" print dress and rompers, burgundy woolen coat with plaid flannel collar and cuffs to match plaid tam, socks, red leather shoes.
