38" (97 cm.) Bisque socket head, large blue glass sleep eyes which operate by wire lever at the back of head, rose blushed eye shadow, painted lashes, thick dark eyeliner, brushstroked and multi-feathered brows, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with outlined shaded lips, pierced ears, brunette hand-tied human hair wig over Steiner pate, French composition fully-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent, original body with old light retouch. Marks: Figure C No. 8 J. Steiner Bte SGDG Paris (head) Le Petit Parisien Bebe Steiner (body stamp) J. Steiner (eyes). Comments: Jules Steiner, circa 1885. Value Points: one of the rarer models of the Steiner firm, its rarity enhanced here by its seldom-found size indicating original Exhibition purpose, original signed Steiner eyes, wonderful antique costume.
