16" (41 cm.) Stockinette doll with pressed and oil-painted facial features, blonde impasto-painted hair, painted brown eyes with white eye dots, dark outlined eyes, brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with shy smile, cloth body with oil- painted lower arms and legs, sateen torso cover, stitch jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, stitch-defined fingers and separate thumb. Condition: generally excellent, some fading of features, cloth on upper arms replaced, few flakes on hair. Comments: Martha Chase, circa 1910. Value Points: very dear expression achieved by loved aged patina, original antique baby costume.
