27" (69 cm.) One-piece carved wooden head and torso, egg-shaped head with centered tiny carved nose, painted over gesso complexion with blush spots on cheeks, fringed brows, "dot" lashes, thin-line mouth, black enamel inset eyes, brunette human hand-tied hair wig, elongated throat, flat-backed torso and shapely bosom, cloth upper arms, kid lower arms, dowel jointing at hips and knees, wearing antique costume including early transfer-print gown with quilted skirt, undergarments, cap. Condition: original finish is well preserved, front of left foot broken. Comments: English, circa 1780. Value Points: grand size indicates luxury production of the rare early doll, with original finish.
