Description
20" (51 cm.) Bisque socket head, oval elongated face, small painted blue/grey eyes, dark upper eyeliner, one-stroke brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with center line on very full lips, impressed character lines around eye corners and mouth, blonde mohair wig, composition and wooden ball-jointed body, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Deponiert F.S. & Co 1262/50 Germany. Comments: Franz Schmidt, circa 1910, made by Simon and Halbig under commission by Franz Schmidt from their exclusive model. Value Points: extremely rare doll, of which very few examples are known to exist. No records exist of an example ever presented by Theriault's, while her equally-rare painted-eye sister model, #1263, has only been offered once. The mystery of these very rare dolls is rivaled by their outstanding portraiture and quality.
