Description
19" (48 cm.) White linen-like cloth face with three vertical seams, large stitched-on felt ears, black bead eyes with surrounding felt petals, black U-shaped brows, red pom-pom nose, orange looped-yarn hair with topknot tassel, muslin body with stitch-jointing at shoulders and hips, stitched-on black velvet shoes. He is wearing original yellow and silver satin clown costume with double ruffled collar and carries a small box labeled "Clarabell by Madame Alexander". The costume has original cloth tag "Clarabell c. Madame Alexander, New York"; note the spelling variation of Clarabell from #186. Near mint condition. Madame Alexander, 1951, from the firm's Posey Pets series inspired by the Howdy Doody TV show, with original Posey Pets paper label.
