Description
23" (58 cm.) All-cloth doll with painted facial features, downcast eyes, outlined nose, solemn lips with center line, brushstroked details of curls under stitched-on blonde mohair wig, stitch-jointing at shoulders and hips, mitten hands. Condition: generally excellent, some fading of facial features. Comments: American, 1880s, attached to the doll is a note stating the original owner was young Natalie Peters from the Islip, Long Island country home known as Ivy Ford; the doll is said to have been made in the likeness of young Natalie who was born in the 1880s, and wears her original mother-made cotton dress and undergarments. It remained in the possession of Natalie until her passing in 1970 and the sale of the estate.
